Yes, we are now eight weeks into parenthood and have had time to process a little bit what is happening to us. Finally, we can sit and tell you about our new life!

On January 12th, at 1:07 AM, our daughter Keila was born and our lives have truly changed since that moment.
We thank God that she is healthy, growing and changing everyday. As for us, it has been fun and hard at the same time as we try to figure out our new roles as parents. As we look at the beauty of God’s creation in our little one, though, we know it is all worth it.

We also discovered that no matter how ready you think you are, you can never know what being a parent actually is until you experience it. Our life is basically this right now: “What does she need and what should we do?” Well, we’re still wondering. I remember my friend telling me that he wanted to write a book that he would call «How to raise the first child as if it was the fifth ». That gives us a bit of hope. All parents are going through the same kind of things; as long as she is growing and gaining weight, we are doing something right somewhere!

Since Sarvia was pregnant we have been praying that Keila would know the fear of the Lord and have a relationship with God. Today we walk in faith that God has heard and answered our prayers. We try to remember that God has given the family as a place where children can grow and learn the values of love and justice. After all, they are not ours but His (though it is easier to say it than to apply it), and His desire is for us to educate them with his principles, exemplifying who he is and of course relying on Him in our struggles. So yes, we are starting to understand the concept of being like God in our stewardship; He gave Keila to us and each day we have to give her back to Him, so we have to be like Him in the process of taking care of her.

Wow, it sounds almost too deep to dive into this right now but I am sure it would be worth meditating on it. At the same time God is also the one giving us the strength to keep on going, the one on whom we can lean when things get too hard. Thank God for his grace in our life; we would not make it without Him.

http://www.godinsmission.com/blog/o-on-en-est

http://www.godinsmission.com/blog/o-on-en-est#comments

Uncategorized

I am not sure the beard is representing wisdom as much as laziness, but for the belly I do believe it shows we will have one more in the family very soon.

We have had an awesome and blessed summer. With the help of the Lord, Mission Adventures was a success. We had a team of twenty people and eight staff that went to Medias, Romania. It is incredible to see how God can rock people’s lives in just two weeks. Actually, knowing about his power, he could do it in a lot less time than that, but thanks to him he is also able to work at our pace and rhythm. Medias was a time of working with Rom communities, painting a school, helping the local YWAM base in practical work, building relationships with local people, and evangelism. Incredible. Again, we were all impacted even as we were impacting others.

After this Sarvia and I went for a time of vacation, three weeks during which we took a time of rest in Valais and enjoyed relationship with my family. We also took time to improve our nest! By the way, you are all invited to come and visit, have a cup of coffee and talk a bit more about what we are up to. Sarvia’s brother and his wife were with us during our last week of vacation and we were really blessed to have them with us. Ah relationship, always relationship…isn’t it all about that, after all?

So we have been here a year and we believe we have accomplished the first part of what God asked us to do: starting Mission Adventures. But there is a lot more, it is time now for multiplication. Yes, God is a God of multiplication. So we are now praying and asking God how to do it. We already have a few youth groups interested in Mission Adventures and we are very thankful for them. Pray with us for this time, that God will give us the ability to hear his voice clearly and grant us wisdom and strength to do his will.

Finally, we went to London for the Global Leadership Gathering. Somehow, we were wondering why God wanted us to be in such a place crowded with great men and women of God, people who founded YWAM and actually lead international ministries. Honestly, it was humbling to hear what those people have done for the kingdom. I believe it was a time of personal refreshment; we were able to hear where YWAM is going, what is going on in the world and most importantly, what God is doing around the globe. It was truly amazing. We are now already invited to the next GLG and we are still seeking God to understand what his purpose is for us in all of this. We know that he will reveal it to us in his timing. Pray with us that we will be able to keep on the right track of the destiny and the plans he has for us in leadership.

The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you. Our love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen

Latest new, Derniere nouvelle

http://www.godinsmission.com/blog/latest-news

http://www.godinsmission.com/blog/latest-news#comments

Uncategorized

Today was an amazing day full of good news and we can't wait to share with all of you.We got up, we had breakfast, quiet time, and than we headed to the doctor. Yes, the doctor. 10 days ago we found out that we are pregnant and when we went to the doctor we were not able to see the embryo . The doctor said that it was a bit weird but that maybe it was because it was actually younger than we thought. She said that therefore it was a confirmed pregnancy but the evolution of it was not confirmed and she said that we should go back in 10 days. With a bit of disappointment and worry we came back home. The whole 10 days we had family and close friends praying that the embryo would grow and things would be normal. And today, at the doctor, the evolution of the pregnancy was confirmed, we were able to see our very little baby and even hear the heart beat!So we are thankful to God and happy to announce that we are expecting our first baby.

¿Qué loco no?

We are now two months into the year. Crazy huh?! The Christmas break and a week of vacations in Italy have been good for us; actually our integration in our new YWAM community improved a lot. We cannot complain about the weather either, even through the cold waves we had on the last week, we have a great and faithful God.
Although we are still at the beginning of this year, we have been very busy. Right away entering into January, we had to start working on propaganda for Mission Adventures, creating a website, organizing outreaches, recruiting teams and summer staff, finishing the business plan and meeting with pastors. It actually very often seemed overwhelming. As we went on and realized that the time had pass incredibly quickly, we had to stop and see where we are. “Lord, are we going to make it for this summer?” And this is when we remembered that this is not our ministry but God’s and that as long as we do what He has told us; then it will be in his hands to make it happen. Seriously, can God be late? Does He do mistakes? We can plant and water but ultimately He is the one who makes it grow.
We have now a few teams interested to participate in MA next summer, our budget is coming together and we have contact for outreaches in France, Sicily and Romania.

On top of preparing Mission Adventures for the next summer, Sarvia just finished an intense six-week course to learn French. It has been great to see her understand and speak a lot more of the local language. We believe that Sarvia is key for the ministry, so learning French is a big part of what she has to do now. God lets us go through hard times, but those times have an end. This last season has been a transition where it has been hard to recognize who God had made us, but we can see now that as the scripture says in Romans 11:29, “the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable”. God doesn’t take away, but sharpens.

We have found a local church in which we feel good. We are starting to be involved in local ministry, such as leading worship night or teaching in youth groups. We can see more and more that God has something for us here, both in our YWAM community and in the local church. We are now truly excited to see what He has in reserve for us in the future.

Winter/Invierno/Hiver

http://www.godinsmission.com/blog/post-title-click-and-type-to-edit3

http://www.godinsmission.com/blog/post-title-click-and-type-to-edit3#comments

Uncategorized

“Tu veux dire que tu as planté un arbre durant l’automne?” “Oui.”

“So, you mean you planted a tree during the fall?”
“Yes.”
“But wouldn’t it be better if you had planted it just before the summer to have more sun and what it needs to grow and produce fruit?”
“Yes it is true, but when you plant it during the fall, it doesn’t have time to grow before the winter and it spends the winter underground, struggling to start. The tree actually grows a lot stronger after a time like this.

This is the word that Craig was sharing with us, and it suddenly made complete sense. Actually, he was putting words to what we were living. Why did God lead us to such a hard time? From a place of total comfort to a place of complete struggle? from trust in relationship to no relationship at all? from a place of respect in ministry to a place where people don’t know us and have wrong expectations about us? Why’s, so many why’s, so many questions that God did not answer. Did you actually notice that God does not so often answer the why question? Is it because we are just focusing on us, forgetting His plans for our lives and for the lives He wants us to impact. Yes God cares about our ministry -actually His ministry- but He cares even more about our relationship with him and our personal growth in His likeness. God took us out of our comfort zone and pruned us until the point where we felt that we had nothing else to give; He brought us into a winter season where it seems there is no end, just like the little tree seed. Also, He let the river grow up to our knees, then our shoulders, and finally until the level our eyes; this is where we lifted our heads to be able to breath. This is also where our eyes suddenly looked in heaven’s direction to meet God’s eyes.

Our season of hardship is not over yet, but what a great feeling to have understanding; to know that without pruning the tree will not grow higher and give new fruit. God has to make us strong for what He wants to do in us and through us in the future. You probably know the verse that says that God does everything for the good of those who love Him; well this good sometimes actually really hurts, but without it we cannot grow stronger in our character and our relationship with him, in our trust in Him. Can you see God’s goodness in our lives?
So yes, this is where we are at today, a painful season of discovering the goodness of a God that has a perfect plan of making his children grow stronger and closer to him.

May you be blessed today and see that your hardest time is the best opportunity for God to make you more like him.

Our new home / Nuestro nuevo hogar

http://www.godinsmission.com/blog/our-new-home-nuestro-nuevo-hogar

http://www.godinsmission.com/blog/our-new-home-nuestro-nuevo-hogar#comments

Uncategorized

Well, here we are. We were able to go to the church and connect with some friends there.

Two days ago we finally moved into the YWAM base which we will be working with for the next season -YWAM Burtigny-. Still seems weird to look at the place and people and think that yes, this is our new community.

We thank God for the last few years of service in YWAM Ensenada. If we look back we see how he has always been there for us. In the highs and the lows, he is always faithful.

Now God brought us here and we are excited to begin this journey with him.
To start our transition and get use to life on base, we will both be involved in the School of Design that is run here. Sarvia, will be taking the school and Jean-Philippe will be the school translator.

We have officially begun our work here. New place, new people, new language and culture (for Sarvia), new way of doing things, etc... But one thing we are certain of, this is were we are suposed to be!
